British wild cards Aimee Gibson and Catherine Rose stole the show on the opening day of the London Premier Padel P1, even in defeat. The official Premier Padel highlights reel from Olympia shows the home pair pushing world No. 34 Ksenia Sharifova and French No. 1 Alix Collombon all the way to a second-set tiebreak before falling 6-1, 7-6.

Sharifova and Collombon cruised through the first set, converting every service game on their way to a 6-1 lead. Gibson and Rose settled in during the second, with Gibson finishing a long rally with a smash that swung the momentum in game six. The British pair forced a 6-6 tiebreak before their higher-ranked opponents closed it out.

'As soon as I could express my game in the second set, I felt we rose to a good level and it just came down to a couple of points in the tiebreak,' Gibson said afterward.
