Coello-Tapia and Galan-Chingotto storm into the Valladolid P2 semis

Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, and Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto, both blew through the Valladolid P2 quarterfinals on Friday to anchor a men's semifinal lineup that pits the tour's two best teams against a pair of dark horses.

Coello and Tapia, the world No. 1 team and defending champions in Valladolid, beat Inigo Jofre and Jairo Bautista 6-1, 6-4. Galan and Chingotto were just as ruthless, downing Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro by the same 6-1, 6-4. Each of the top two seeds dropped only five games all match.

The semis lineup

Saturday's last four reads Coello / Tapia vs Juan Lebron / Leo Augsburger, then Galan / Chingotto vs Fran Guerrero / Javi Leal. The two favorites sit on opposite sides of the draw, so a fourth straight Coello-Tapia vs Galan-Chingotto final is still on the table.

Guerrero and Leal upset the No. 3 seeds

Guerrero and Leal produced the day's biggest result, knocking out third seeds Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas 7-6(0), 6-4. It was payback for a loss to the same pair in Valencia, and it puts Guerrero and Leal in the Valladolid semifinals for a second year running.

A walkover for Lebron and Augsburger

Lebron and Augsburger reached the last four without hitting a ball. Their quarterfinal opponents, Momo Gonzalez and Lucas Campagnolo, withdrew before the match with an injury, handing the pair fresh legs for a heavyweight semifinal against Coello and Tapia.
