Mexico Waves Repeat as Pro Padel League Champions in Playa del Carmen

Mexico Waves are back-to-back Pro Padel League champions. Maximiliano Arce and David Gala beat Miami Padel Club's Alvaro Melendez Amaya and Jose Antonio Garcia Diestro 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in Sunday's men's final at the Poliforum in Playa del Carmen.

San Diego sweeps again

The women's title went to San Diego Stingrays. Claudia Jensen and Veronica Virseda beat Las Vegas Smash's Jimena Velasco and Raquel Eugenio Barrera 6-2, 6-4. It was San Diego's second championship of the 2026 season, adding to their season-opening win in New York.

A two-peat for Mexico Waves

Arce and Gala had already won the tour's Los Angeles stop in August, and Sunday's result makes them the first men's pairing this season to win back-to-back stages. The final went the distance in the second set before Mexico Waves closed it out in a tiebreak, sealing the title in front of a home crowd four days after the event opened at the Poliforum.

Bronze matches

In the third-place matches, Florida Goats beat DC Matrix 0-6, 6-2, 10-6 on the men's side, while DC Matrix topped New York Atlantics 6-2, 6-4 in the women's bracket.

The Playa del Carmen stop was the tour's third of the 2026 season, run over four days at the Poliforum in Quintana Roo. Officials from the city touted the event as a boost to Playa del Carmen's standing as an international padel venue.
