Pretoria P1 crowns its first champions today, and two debutant pairs are in the finals

Premier Padel decides its first South African titles today, and two first-time finalists have gatecrashed the party. Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero reached their maiden Premier Padel final, and Martina Calvo and Claudia Fernandez did the same on the women's side, when the Pretoria P1 semifinals wrapped up Saturday.

Men's final: favourites meet the giant-killers

Leal and Guerrero produced the run of the week. The unseeded pair beat world No. 1s Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia 7-5, 7-5 in the semifinals, ending the top seeds' streak of 27 straight finals. They now face second seeds Alejandro Galan and Federico Chingotto, who came through 7-5, 6-4 against Juanlu Esbri and Sanyo Gutierrez. A Galan and Chingotto win would tighten the race for the year-end No. 1 spot.

Women's final: Triay and Brea chase another trophy

World No. 1s Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea march on. They dropped just three games in a 6-2, 6-1 semifinal over Alejandra Salazar and Sofia Osoro, and now meet the young duo of Calvo and Fernandez, who upset Bea Gonzalez and Paula Josemaria 6-1, 6-4.

African debut

Pretoria is Premier Padel's first stop in South Africa, upgraded to P1 status after the Qatar Major was cancelled. Both finals are set for Sunday afternoon in Pretoria.
