Sanyo Gutierrez and Momo Gonzalez through as Malaga P1 last-32 gets going

Six men's pairs booked their spots in the last 16 on the opening day of the round of 32, with Coello, Tapia, Galan and Chingotto all due on court Wednesday.

Sanyo Gutierrez and Maxi Sanchez Blasco came through their opening match at the Andalucia Malaga P1 on Tuesday, one of six men's results on the first day of the round of 32 as the Premier Padel event moved toward its later rounds. The veteran pair beat Alex Ruiz and Juanlu Esbri 7-6, 6-4.

Home favourites advance

Momo Gonzalez, playing close to his native Andalucia, teamed with Lucas Campagnolo to see off Diego Garcia and Santi Pineda 6-4, 6-4. Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal needed two tie-breaks to get past Alex Chozas and Tino Libaak 7-6, 7-6, while Juani De Pascual and Alonso Rodriguez beat Jairo Bautista and Inigo Jofre 7-6, 6-3.

Javi Garcia and Jose Jimenez had the most comfortable afternoon, dropping just five games in a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dylan Guichard and Clement Geens. Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini had to work harder, dropping the first set before turning it around against Miguel Benitez and Aris Patiniotis 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Big names next

The top seeds sat out day one and enter on Wednesday. Defending champions Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia open their campaign, and second seeds Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto are also scheduled to start, along with Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno. The tournament runs through to Sunday's final on July 19.
