Malaga P1 finals set: Lebron and Augsburger complete the lineup against Coello and Tapia
Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger clawed back from a match point down to beat Alejandro Galan and Federico Chingotto and set up a Malaga P1 final against world number ones Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia. Both titles at the Andalucia Malaga Premier Padel P1 are decided Sunday at the Martin Carpena in Malaga.
Lebron and Augsburger stun the Clasico pair
The men's semifinal was the match of the week. Galan and Chingotto took the opening set 6-2 and looked in control, but Lebron and Augsburger hit back to force a decider and stormed to a 5-0 lead in the final tie-break. Galan and Chingotto refused to fold, reeling off points and even earning a match point of their own, before Lebron and Augsburger steadied to close it out 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 after roughly two and a half hours.
They now meet the top seeds and defending champions. Coello and Tapia, into the final after their own semifinal win, are chasing another Malaga crown on home Spanish soil.
Triay and Brea meet Gonzalez and Josemaria
The women's final pits the season's top two pairs against each other. World number ones Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea demolished Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo 6-0, 6-4, while second seeds Bea Gonzalez and Paula Josemaria brushed aside Ale Alonso and Marina Guinart 6-2, 6-2. Gonzalez, born in Malaga, is chasing a back-to-back home title in front of her own crowd.
When and how to watch
The women's final starts at 14:00 local time, with the men's final to follow no earlier than 16:00, both on the central court at the Martin Carpena. The tournament is streamed worldwide on Premier Padel's channels and regional broadcasters.
