Malaga P1 field set: Coello and Tapia headline as Premier Padel resumes July 13

Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will go into next week's Malaga P1 as the top seeds, with the official entry list putting the sport's two dominant pairs at the front of the draw. The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour resumes at the Martin Carpena in Malaga from July 13 to 19, its fifth P1 of the season.

The seeding

Coello and Tapia hold the No. 1 seeding after another title run, this time in Bordeaux last weekend. Alejandro Galan and Federico Chingotto are seeded second. That sets up the possibility of yet another final between the two teams who have met for so many of this year's biggest trophies.

What's at stake

Malaga is a P1, so 1,000 ranking points are on offer for the champions. Coello and Tapia arrive straight off their Bordeaux win over Galan and Chingotto, 5-7 7-6(4) 6-2, and sit level at the top of the FIP men's ranking. A deep run here would tighten their grip on the year-end No. 1 race before the tour heads to Pretoria and London.

The men's main draw opens on July 13 after qualifying on July 11 and 12. The final is set for Sunday, July 19, with the women's competition running alongside it at the same venue.
