Jon Sanz Leaves Coki Nieto to Team Up With Franco Stupaczuk

Jon Sanz is leaving Coki Nieto to team up with Franco Stupaczuk, ending his second spell with Nieto just months after the pair got back together for the 2026 season.

The split

The move became public on August 10, a day after Sanz and Nieto wrapped up the London P1, their last tournament as a pair. Across 12 events this season the two reached the quarterfinals regularly but the semifinals only twice, and they never made a final. Nieto said he respects the decision even though he does not like changing partners, especially mid-season.

A new look for Stupaczuk

Stupaczuk announced his own split from Mike Yanguas earlier this month. Pairing with Sanz, a left-hander, gives him a lefty partner for the first time since a brief stint with Pablo Lima back in 2022. Sanz is known for an aggressive, high-risk game at the net, while Stupaczuk builds points from the back court, a combination several Spanish outlets expect to slot in around fourth or fifth in the world rankings once results start counting.

When they debut

Stupaczuk and Sanz are set to make their first appearance together at the Madrid P1 in the first week of September. The entry list for that event closes on Wednesday, August 13, so the pairing should be official on paper within days.

Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto are both now without a partner, and Spanish padel media are already asking whether the two might team up themselves before the Madrid deadline.
