FIP and Premier Padel Name October 20 World Padel Day, Renew Brisbane 2032 Push

The International Padel Federation and Premier Padel made it official on October 20: that date is now World Padel Day, and the federation used the announcement to renew its push for a place at the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

A date that already existed informally

October 20 has circulated among players and clubs for years, tied to the court's own dimensions: 20 meters long, 10 meters wide. FIP and Premier Padel said the recognition formalizes a date 'already embraced by the global padel community,' rather than inventing a new one from scratch.

The Olympic pitch, again

FIP still has no confirmed place on the Brisbane 2032 program. The federation's case leans on numbers from its own World Padel Report 2026: about 40 million players across 191 countries and territories, with women making up 47 percent of participants. FIP president Luigi Carraro tied the bid directly to the Games. 'Padel can bring Brisbane 2032 a global community, exciting competition for women and men,' he said, framing it as a sport a new generation could keep playing long after any tournament ends.

Where padel already has a Games foothold

Padel already shows up at smaller multi-sport events. It was a medal sport at the 2023 European Games and is on the program for this year's Mediterranean Games in Taranto and the Asian Games. FIP points to recognition from continental Olympic bodies in Asia, Europe, Africa and South America as proof the sport is building the institutional backing an Olympic bid needs. That doesn't guarantee a place in 2032. The International Olympic Committee has not added padel to the Brisbane program, and FIP's own language on October 20 called this a renewed campaign, not a done deal.

No. FIP renewed its campaign for inclusion on October 20, but the International Olympic Committee has not confirmed a spot for padel at the 2032 Games.

What numbers does FIP cite to support the Olympic bid?

FIP's World Padel Report 2026 counts about 40 million amateur players in 191 countries and territories, with women making up 47 percent of participants.
