Buenos Aires Set to Host Padel's First Senior World Cup in South America

The International Padel Federation will stage the Senior World Cup in Buenos Aires this September, the first time the national team championship has been held anywhere in South America.

A first for the region

Argentina hosts the event from September 14 to 19, organizers say. The tournament has previously been played in Spain and in Las Vegas, but this edition marks its debut on South American soil, a nod to the country's deep padel culture and its large senior playing population.

How it works

Unlike Premier Padel or FIP tour stops, where pairs compete individually for ranking points and prize money, the Senior World Cup runs as a nations competition. Federations send teams to represent their countries across a range of senior age divisions, with players competing for their flag rather than their own ranking.

Why it matters

Argentina is one of padel's oldest strongholds, and staging a world championship there gives the FIP a chance to grow the senior game in a market that already produces some of the sport's most passionate crowds. It also continues a pattern of the federation moving its flagship events outside Spain, following the earlier stop in the United States.
