Stupaczuk and Sanz Win Belgrade Title in Their First Tournament Together

Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz won the FIP Gold Belgrade title in their first tournament together, beating Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas 6-3, 7-5 in Sunday's final.

A perfect debut

Stupaczuk and Sanz did not drop a single set all week in Serbia. The final was closer than the rest of the run: Nieto and Yanguas pushed hard in the second set before Stupaczuk and Sanz served it out 7-5. It is Stupaczuk's second CUPRA FIP Tour title of 2026, after his win at the FIP Platinum in Tirana.

"For our first tournament together, we had some very good feelings," Stupaczuk said after the match. "We knew our opponents very well, and I'm very happy with the understanding we have developed."

Why the result matters for Paris

The Belgrade final doubled as a fight for the number 4 seed heading into the Premier Padel Major in Paris, which follows next week's Madrid P1. By beating Nieto and Yanguas, Stupaczuk and Sanz lock in that seed for themselves, which means they will avoid the tour's top three pairs until at least the semifinals in Paris.

Rufo and Iglesias take the women's title

Lorena Rufo and Victoria Iglesias, seeded second, won the women's final over top seeds Alejandra Salazar and Aranzazu Osoro. Rufo and Iglesias dropped the first set before turning the match around to win the title in three sets. It is Rufo's first Gold trophy of the year after she finished runner-up at the FIP Gold in Almaty, and a second title of the season for Iglesias, who won that same Almaty event with a different partner.

"It was a very tough tournament," Iglesias said. "We helped each other a lot to achieve this result."
