Nieto-Yanguas and Stupaczuk-Sanz Head to Belgrade Fighting for the No. 4 Madrid Seed

Nieto and Yanguas currently sit on roughly 11,697 points against Stupaczuk and Sanz's 11,676, according to Padel Magazine's Italian edition. That gap is thin enough that a single round at Belgrade, which runs August 24 to 30 in Serbia, could flip the order.

Why the seed matters

FIP Gold events pay 150 points to the winner, 90 to the finalist and 50 for a semifinal run, more than most Premier Padel P1 round of 16 results. For Madrid, which follows Belgrade from August 31 to September 6, the No. 4 seed avoids the top three pairs until the semifinals. Drop to No. 5, and a quarterfinal meeting with one of them becomes possible.

A deduction working against Nieto-Yanguas

Padel Addict reports a separate factor is already tilting things: the cancelled 2026 Qatar Major triggers weekly point deductions for pairs who reached its 2025 final, and Nieto-Yanguas are on course to lose 104 points across two ranking updates before Madrid's draw. Stupaczuk, who did not play the 2025 Qatar Major, exposes his partnership with Sanz to a much smaller loss of about 26 points over the same period. Both outlets agree the practical effect is the same: Stupaczuk-Sanz are positioned to overtake Nieto-Yanguas for the No. 4 seed by the time Madrid's draw locks, regardless of how Belgrade itself finishes, though a strong result there would make the swing decisive rather than close.
