Coello and Tapia win Bordeaux for a fourth straight title and tighten their grip on the Race

Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia have now won four tournaments in a row. The latest came Sunday in Bordeaux, where they beat Alejandro Galan and Federico Chingotto 5-7 7-6(4) 6-2 to take the Bordeaux P2 title and firm up their hold on the top of the 2026 Race.

The final ran to the script of the season's defining rivalry. Galan and Chingotto grabbed the first set, but Coello and Tapia dug out the second in a tiebreak and then pulled clear 6-2 in the decider. It was the fourth final in a row the world No. 1 pair has won against Galan and Chingotto.

Four in a row

Bordeaux stretches a run that now covers the back half of the spring. Coello and Tapia also won the Valladolid P2 six days earlier, beating the same rivals 6-4 6-3, and they have not dropped a final since. Coello, still only 23, keeps piling up hardware alongside the 26-year-old Tapia, and the two look sharper now than at any point this year.

The Race tightens

Before Bordeaux the season Race was almost dead level. Padel Tonic had the two pairs tied on 5,880 points on June 8, with Coello and Tapia ahead by roughly 10. Beating your only genuine rival in a P2 final is the kind of result that turns a coin-flip lead into a real one, and the updated standings land with Monday's ranking release.

Next up is the Malaga P1 from July 13 to 19, where Coello and Tapia are the top seeds and Galan and Chingotto are seeded second. On this evidence, another chapter of the same final looks likely.
