Brea and Triay defend their Italy Major title in Rome

Delfina Brea and Gemma Triay are Italy Major champions again. The pair beat Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero 6-1, 7-5 in the women's final at the Foro Italico to defend the title they won at the same event a year ago.

A fast start

Brea and Triay raced through the first set 6-1, then held off a tougher second set to seal the win 7-5. It is their first title together since March, and a statement at the first Major of the season.

The road to the final

Sánchez and Ustero reached the final on the back of the longest match in Premier Padel women's history, a semifinal against Paula Josemaría and Beatriz González that ran past four hours. That effort showed in a final where Brea and Triay set the pace from the opening games.

The win completed a clean sweep for the top seeds in Rome, with Coello and Tapia taking the men's title on the same day.
