Leo Augsburger and Juan Lebron are through to the quarterfinals in Dusseldorf after a three-set fight past Inigo Jofre and Juanlu Esbri. The third seeds dropped the first set 3-6 before taking control, closing it out 6-3, 6-3 at the CUPRA Germany P2.
A shaky start
Jofre and Esbri, seeded 26th and 21st, broke early and never let the third seeds settle into the opening set. Augsburger and Lebron looked rattled behind the baseline and gave up a string of easy points at the net.
Lebron finds his range
The pair reset in the second set. Lebron started reading the lobs better and Augsburger tightened up his smashes, and the third seeds ran off a 6-3 set to level the match. They carried that form into the decider, breaking twice to close it out 6-3 and book a quarterfinal spot.
It is the latest step forward for a partnership that is still less than a year old. Lebron and Augsburger joined forces in late 2025, with Lebron leaving longtime partner Franco Stupaczuk and Augsburger splitting from Martin Di Nenno. The former world No. 1 now sits fifth in the rankings alongside Augsburger, and the pair have steadily climbed the Premier Padel standings since their debut at the Mexico event.
Dusseldorf is the latest stop in a loaded men's draw that also features top seeds Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, who opened their own campaign with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jose Diestro and Marc Sintes.
