Great Britain Carry Perfect Record Into Decisive Day 3 at FIP World Cup Qualifiers

Great Britain's padel teams take unbeaten records into the final round of group matches in Madrid on Thursday, with a place in the knockout stage still to be settled.

Two clean sweeps to open

Britain won every match it played on the opening day of the FIP World Cup Qualifiers Europe. The men's team beat Austria 3-0, and the women's team beat Norway 3-0 behind wins from Gibson/Rose, De La Mare/Nicolas and Tordoff/Phillips. Both squads then had Wednesday off while other groups played out their second round of matches.

Serbia and Moldova stand in the way

That rest ends Thursday. Britain's women close out Group A against Serbia, and the men wrap up Group C against Moldova, with the results deciding who advances from each group. Nineteen matches are scheduled across Madrid's Padel G24 club on Thursday, with women's ties starting at 9 a.m. local time and the men following from noon.

What is on the line

Fifty-five national teams from 29 countries are competing in Madrid for four places at the FIP World Cup in Doha this November, two each in the men's and women's draws. Every team that advances out of Thursday's group matches moves into a knockout stage that starts Friday, with the World Cup finals set for November 2 to 7 in Qatar.
